Why We Walk Barefoot
Walking barefoot is a universal gesture of humility and humanity. For the women of Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun, it is also a way to reconnect with the land that has absorbed both blood and tears—to feel the pain that unites mothers everywhere and the earth that sustains us all.
This land has known too much of our children’s blood.
We walk barefoot to honor their memory, to heal what is broken, and to build peace in our communities.
Every step we take is a call — for life, for safety, for the future every child deserves.

Hundreds of Israeli, Palestinian, and international allies will walk barefoot through Rome calling for compassion, justice, and peace. Rome marks only the beginning—with barefoot walks to follow across cities and continents, uniting mothers and allies in a global movement for peace, until mothers are heard and a durable peace is achieved.

Led by Reem Al-Hajajreh and Yael Admi, these movements are building trust, dialogue, and solidarity across deep divides. Their leadership is proof that women and mothers are essential to every peace process—and that peace is not a dream, but a decision.

What started as a joint declaration between Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun has become a worldwide movement demanding that no child should be killed—nor raised to kill.
