The 2024 Hillary Rodham Clinton Award, presented by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), marks a historic milestone in the journey of Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun. This award honors the pivotal role of women in advancing political agreements and fostering reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis.
The ceremony, held on October 1, 2024, at Georgetown University, featured a powerful keynote speech by former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. In her address, she expressed unwavering support for our joint initiative, The #MothersCall, and highlighted the critical contributions of women in resolving conflicts and building lasting peace.
Accepting the award on behalf of the movements were Reem Hajajreh, co-founder of Women of the Sun, and Angela Sharif, Foreign Relations Coordinator of Women Wage Peace. They also participated in a thought-provoking panel discussion during the event, sharing their insights on the transformative power of women-led peacebuilding.
This recognition inspires us to deepen our partnerships, strengthen our efforts, and remain steadfast in our mission. We are profoundly grateful to the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and to Secretary Clinton for shining a spotlight on our work and reaffirming the importance of women’s leadership in shaping a better future for all.
Together, we continue to forge pathways toward peace, justice, and coexistence.
