After more than a century of conflict—managed predominantly by men—Israeli and Palestinian women are saying: Enough! On March 25, 2022, the shores of the Dead Sea witnessed a historic moment as hundreds of women from Women of the Sun and Women Wage Peace gathered for the first time to declare their partnership and sign the Mothers’ Call.
This event marked the beginning of a transformative collaboration between our movements, uniting women across divides to demand change. The Mothers’ Call is a shared declaration of our commitment to peace, urging the leaders of both sides to begin negotiations and reach an agreement to end the conflict. As women, as mothers, we refuse to stand by while the cycle of violence continues.
This was not just an event—it was the birth of a historic partnership rooted in a shared vision for a better future. Inspired by the successes of women-led peace initiatives in Liberia, Ireland, and Colombia, we stood together at the Dead Sea to say: If it happened there, it can happen here.
Through heartfelt speeches, personal stories, and the collective act of signing the Mothers’ Call, we declared our determination to work together. The event symbolized our shared commitment to building bridges, fostering understanding, and leading the way toward a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
