Highlighting the Voices of Peace: Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun on CGI’s Main Stage

In September 2024, we were honored to take the main stage at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Conference in New York. This influential gathering brings together leaders, activists, and changemakers from around the globe, all united in their pursuit of transformative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

This year, the conference spotlighted the voices of Israeli and Palestinian women working tirelessly to end the conflict and build a future of peace and coexistence. The panel, moderated by Leymah Gbowee, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate from Liberia who led her nation to end civil war, served as a powerful platform for our movements. Leymah’s story of courage and action continues to inspire both Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun in their shared mission for peace.

Representing our movements on this momentous panel were Reem Hajajreh, co-founder of Women of the Sun, and Dr. Yael Admi, co-founder of Women Wage Peace. Their participation highlighted the commitment and resilience of Palestinian and Israeli women, emphasizing the importance of women-led peacebuilding efforts in transforming the region’s future. The crowd responded with great enthusiasm, energized by the powerful message of hope, collaboration, and determination shared by these remarkable women.

This opportunity reaffirmed the critical role of collaboration and dialogue in achieving peace and inspires us to continue our work with renewed vigor and hope.

Together, we are building bridges that can withstand the challenges of today and lead to a brighter tomorrow.
