In a powerful recognition of their steadfast commitment to peace, the Israeli movement Women Wage Peace and the Palestinian movement Women of the Sun were awarded the prestigious DVF Award 2024. Established by American-Jewish fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg and the Diller-von Fürstenberg Family Foundation, this award celebrates women who demonstrate extraordinary leadership, courage, and resilience in creating meaningful change.
The award ceremony took place in August 2024 in Venice, Italy, where Dr. Yael Admi, a co-founder and representative of Women Wage Peace, and Reem Hajajreh, the founder and representative of Women of the Sun, accepted the honor on behalf of their movements. Both leaders have been pivotal in fostering collaboration and unity, even during some of the most challenging times for their communities.
Over the past two and a half years, these two movements have worked together to demand an end to the cycle of violence and to advocate for a just, inclusive, and lasting peace.
